What You Will Do

• Conduct independent research and collaborate in an interdisciplinary fashion within NT&I team as the AI/ML expert.

• Design and implement industrial viable models, build prototypes and simulations as part of the research, supporting NT&I process as well as Harman Consumer Audio Business Unit NPI projects.

• Practice new technology scouting and technical roadmap planning with an AI/ML focus and maintain good communication both within the team and interfacing with functional team and Business Units.

• Develop new acoustic solutions to make Harman Products unique. Like parametric arrays, DOA, AEC, immersive audio, source separation and so on.

• Work with global Harman research/engineering team and external research institutes or universities for new technology innovation and applications.

• Combine traditional DSP technology and AI/ML to push the acoustic performance envelope for Home Audio. Portable Audio, Headphone and IOT products.

• Develop and build POC prototypes and demonstrate to internal stakeholders.

• Work with DSP engineers for acoustic performance optimization.

• Work with DSP engineer for algorithm tuning and improvement.

• Submit minimum of 4 technical patents in the US or Europe

What You Need

• MS or above degree in EE/CS, PhD preferred.

• Solid acoustic and audio system research and development experience. Like spatial audio, noise reduction, sound field control, audio coding, etc.

• 6+ years of experience in AI/ML based approach of audio solutions that supports large-scale consumer audio business

• First-hand experience model development with RNN/RSTM/GRU/GAN/U-net/Attention etc.

• First-hand experience in methodologies on data collection, pre-processing, labeling

• Proficient in acoustic theory, acoustic testing, acoustic simulation, and signal processing.

• Familiar with acoustic related algorithms and digital signal processing.

• Good experience at audio product development like Soundbar, Headphone, Smart Speaker, Conference System, hearing aid etc.

• Comfortable in development in Python, Matlab, C/C++, with on-device experience

• Experience at sound tuning and golden ears.

• Good leadership and team management experience.
