Description:
Fresh analytics is a function in merchandising that aims to optimize the efficiency of an end-to-end fresh value chain as part of a larger merchandising transformation journey.
This new function is a top strategic imperative with significant executive leadership engagement. The role will be part of the core team to enable the strategic transformation of a key area at Walmart China to develop a lean and efficient value chain for our customers. We are looking for a high talent candidate that can add value immediately with strong analytical mind, business sense and solid analytical skills.
Responsibilities
• Understand the sources of key data structures and relationship among these data structures and relevant business impacts of these data in a retail context
• Identify and solve business problems as well as apply approach and analytics
• Support cross-function communication and information collection and validation
• Conduct research as required and obtain and prepare data for analytics, visualization and reporting
• Conduct statistical analysis and modeling of complex data to unlock insights and drive for results; adjust and explain the model in terms of practical business implications
• Summarize and present results and insights in the form of reporting in a structured, logical and succinct manner
• Support capacity building with cross functional team and help empower merchants to make fact-based, customer centric decisions
• Support on project management
• Coach junior team members as needed
Qualifications, skillsets and experience:
• Solid analytical skills and expertise a MUST
o Strong data analyzing capabilities with statistics background
o Understand the science behind cluster analysis (e.g. K-means clustering, Latent Class Analysis)
o Solid expertise on advanced analytics methodology and statistical toolkits (SPSS/ Java/ R/ MATLAB/ Python (at least one of them)
o Proficiency in business intelligence toolkits (Tableau, Alteryx, etc.)
o Coding and web scraping capabilities; previous experience on store or customer clustering and related analytics preferred
• Capabilities to drive and generate insights from analytical results is a MUST
• Retail background especially Fresh business experience will be highly PREFERRED
o Relevant experience in retail industry with solid understanding on retail key metrics (traffic/customer penetration, ticket size, etc.)
• Fluency in native language (Mandarin) and English
• Strong analytical mind with good oral and written presentation skill
• Proficient in SQL a definite PLUS
