The ADAS Map Engineer serves as the Map DRI (Directly Responsible Individual) and technical lead for Ford’s in-house ADAS map solutions. This role is pivotal in defining the L2+ map technology roadmap, specifically evaluating and deciding between High-Definition (HD) Map and Mapless strategies to support advanced features like Highway and Urban Pilot.
The role is responsible for translating complex ADAS and IVI requirements into detailed software specifications, driving map algorithm design, and ensuring rigorous test validation. As the bridge between functional requirements and mass production, the engineer leads collaborative integration across various teams and leverages a data-closed loop to continuously upgrade map performance, guaranteeing that all map functions meet Ford’s stringent safety, quality, and customer experience targets.
Key Responsibility:
•L2+ Map Strategy & Definition: Lead the definition and selection of L2+ map technical solutions. Conduct in-depth evaluations of HD Map vs. Mapless/SD+ Map approaches based on different ODD (Operational Design Domain) requirements (e.g., NOA, Urban Pilot)
•Responsible for the development and implementation of Ford's in-house ADAS maps, participating in the definition of ADAS map technology roadmaps and development specifications, and ensuring map products meet the requirements of ADAS functions.
•Translate ADAS function requirements and IVI performance requirements into detailed ADAS map software requirements and technical specification documents.
•Strictly adhere to ADAS map software requirements and design specifications, formulating comprehensive test plans and test cases, including unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and performance testing.
•Efficiently analyze various software defects, performance issues, and customer feedback related to ADAS maps reported in Jira. Conduct in-depth root cause analysis, pinpoint problem sources, and determine effective solutions.
•Responsible for implementing software modifications, debugging, and validation, ensuring problems are thoroughly resolved, and performing regression testing to prevent the introduction of new issues.
•Maintain close and effective communication and collaboration with internal development teams, such as the ADAS function team and IVI development team, as well as external suppliers. Ensure ADAS map development progress and technical interfaces are consistent with other related modules, and collectively address challenges encountered during integration.
•Actively participate in cross-functional technical reviews, problem discussions, and project meetings to facilitate smooth development and problem-solving processes.

•No. of Years of Experience 3+ years of related experience in map development
•Professional Exposure
In-depth understanding of ADAS map data structures, map matching, EH algorithms, and related development processes. Proficient in C++ programming and familiar with Linux development environments. Familiar with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools, map data processing tools, and version control (Git).
•Preferred previous experiences
Successfully delivered mass production ADAS map-related functions or high-definition map projects; experience with CI/CD, Jenkins, ASPICE SWE.1 to SWE.6, automated regression testing frameworks; experience in map-based ADAS function development is a plus.
