The packaging portfolio will require an innovative thinker who can create value and think outside the box. Due to the nature of the packaging portfolio, this role has high complexity and needs structured management of many suppliers, markets, and/or packaging solutions.
Our suppliers are at the heart of everything we do. We need to work more closely than ever with suppliers to co-create sustainable practices and bigger and better initiatives with positive impact. This will be key to delivering value in this role.
As Unilever procurement adapts to the ever-dynamic business environment, we will need to be agile to continue our track record of delivery bottom and top line of our businesses.
This role will manage Rigids packaging for China. Professional sourcing of Rigids packaging whilst meeting the specified needs of the business at the most competitive commercial terms. Building and developing sustainable partnerships through innovative value creation through aligned global/regional strategy.
WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE
Lead and support global and/or regional negotiations
Roll-out global sourcing strategies locally and develop locally fitted strategy
Support Innovation & Sustainability programs for Rigids Packaging
Work on programs for Margin Improvement (Net Material Impact) to deliver Savings and/or Cash in line with set targets. Identify and propose cost reduction/continuous performance improvement (supplier) opportunities.
Identify, implement, and record Saving project together with the other market teams – lead deployment of opportunities and market executions
Contribute towards Unilever’s sustainability commitments and delivery of targets (e.g. plastics, deforestation, climate, living wage, etc.)
Work closely with Supply Partners to ensure compliance to defined Procurement procedures and adhere to the Code of Business Principles
Work in an effective, cohesive team environment (Ability to understand all areas of Procurement)
Work with Cross Functional team to implement the sourcing strategy and execute local contracts are in place for the portfolios.
Implementation of Local sourcing agreements at assigned site cluster level within the portfolio
Work with R&D teams to deliver the next generation of Packaging by creating and executing the technology and innovation agenda
Support Procurement & Other Cross Functional teams by providing timely and accurately assistance on relevant topics and initiatives as required.
Build and develop Local supplier relationships, focus on value, innovation, sustainability, and growth roadmaps including bespoke transformational global initiatives.
Maintain frequent engagement with strategic and Local suppliers and key Business stakeholders, to review/resolve relationship issues and develop future business opportunities in line with relevant Procurement Lighthouse Strategy.
Execute contract negotiations, leveraging the business and digital tools for support as needed
Support escalations of service and quality issues (e.g. crisis management) involving stakeholders as needed
Support on regulatory related topics that may impact the portfolio and business
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Experiences & Qualifications
University/bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
5 years+ working experience in procurement or supply chain (preferably within FMCG)
Experience in managing supplier relationships and leading negotiations
Familiar with cost modeling and contracting strategies
Experience in supporting and /or managing complex projects
Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously
Experience working with cross-functional teams
Basic understanding of finance
Skills
Strong analytics skills including a deep knowledge of Excel, Power BI
Strong communication skills, including the ability to concisely communicate to senior level internal and external stakeholders
Adept at working in a global virtual network with teammates and suppliers based across the world
Negotiation instinct, passion for learning, ability to navigate complex situations with a hands on business mind
Excellent presentation skills (creation and delivery)
Experience in supporting the development of strategies
Experience in business partnering
