About the role:
This role is responsible for managing the Stone and Moon vineyard to ensure reliable, predictable and sustainable delivery of grape to TWE specification.
1. Work to TWE policies and safe work practices at TWE and partner sites
2. Manage S&M vineyard to grow grape to meet TWE requirements and quality targets, including
a. Liaising with TWE winemaking team and AU Viti team to understand and implement TWE “best practice” models and protocols (e.g. pruning, yield management, disease management, chemical usage, sustainability)
b. Managing vineyard operation including bury/unbury, pruning, irrigation, harvest and etc..
c. Developing and executing on projects to uplift fruit quality on TWE business requirements;
d. Co-ordinating and delivering pick execution based on TWE winemaking team’s requirements;
e. Maintaining vineyard data in a systematic way to provide accurate reporting, including Sustainability reporting.
f. Ensuring all activities carried in vineyard complying with TWE Environmental, Health and Safety policy;
3. Conduct and record field inspections with winemakers for final grading to ensure maximum end use potential of fruit and efficient batching and streaming of fruit deliveries during vintage.
4. Manage contract labours in the vineyard, lead to conduct trainings to ensure accurate execution to TWE standards;
5. Support other winery maintenance activities;
6. Strong leadership and managerial skills to encourage a team culture built on the principles of trust and respect to meet the dynamic demands of internal and external customers.
About you:
1. Fluent in English and Mandarin.
2. Tertiary qualifications preferably in Winemaking, or Science related field, WSET 3 preferred
3. 3+ years’ experience in vineyard operations in China with understanding of:
a. Viticulture cycle and different Chinese viticulture regions
b. Winery operations from grape intake to bottling
c. Winemaking steps and critical control points
d. Quality driven winemaking
4. Competency in wine sensory evaluation
5. Understanding China and international wine food safety and regulations
6. Winery or food processing experience
