Within ASML, the Risk and Business Assurance (RBA) department provides an integrated risk management methodology and enables ASML and its business lines, sectors and countries to carry their accountability and responsibility, to be in control through proactive identification, assessment, prioritization, treatment and monitoring of key risks.
Job mission
ASML is looking for a 2nd line risk management professional that recognizes itself in having a:
Proven track record as risk and/or control management professional in a 1st, 2nd or 3rd line role
Strong experience with stakeholder engagement and influence, reaching alignment on the best way forward in groups with differing perspectives
Pragmatic approach supported with deep risk and control (theoretical) knowledge, being able to analyze and explain complex issues
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business economics, risk management or technology and 10+ years of relevant work experience, of which 5+ years within, or as consultant/auditor for, a corporate environment
Role and responsibilities
As 2nd line risk manager your main responsibilities are:
Support and improve the design, implementation and operating effectiveness of ASML’s Integrated Risk Management process incl 3-lines of responsibility model, methodology and tooling
Collaborate in cross functional and multi-disciplinary teams to maintain oversight on overall risk exposure and changes
Challenge and verify effectiveness of (key) controls and risk management, to ensure 1st line is ‘in control’
Align and build strong relationships with stakeholders, to gain buy-in and drive the business risk management calendar
Manage the preparation, execution and follow up of risk assessments on entity, process, and/or initiative level
Support business with risk management processes (incl. incidents, policies, compliance/regulatory program, GRC, risk responses, control design and implementation to be “within risk appetite”).

Strong customer service commitment for internal and external (senior) stakeholders, including demonstrating curiosity, proper preparation and a sharp business sense
Able to direct and indirectly influence and mobilize teams, departments and executives
Resilient to change and able to adapt to new circumstances and/or challenges that sometimes present themselves unannounced
Execution drive that shows by finishing what you start, completing deliverables effectively and efficient and keeping yourself and others accountable for made commitments
Strong communication skills for active listening, effective and simple ‘to the point’ communication and storytelling
Creativity to (autonomously) develop case-by-case approaches to achieve results in differing group and team settings.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Mandarin.
Excellent multi-tasking skills.
Context of the position:
The Risk and Business Assurance department consists out of a team of 175+ professionals. The team operates world-wide and is stationed in Veldhoven (HQ) as well as in US and Asia. This position is part of sector facing team that services ASML China. Within ASML’s governance, Risk and Business Assurance reports to the Corporate Risk Committee which is chaired by the CFO.
