About the role
The Product Manager – Renewable Energy: Solar, will help establish and support the product vision for the clients and markets served in the Renewable Energy sector, in concert with deep market understanding, to inform the core and new product strategy.
• Evaluating market needs against UL’s and competitors’ unique abilities to address them.
• Support and Contribution to the go-to-market strategy for Renewable Energy: Solar, describing how value will be delivered to the customer/user, how UL’s products are differentiated from the competition, and what the business model should be in a given market.
• Prioritization of product functions and features into a product roadmap.
• Monitoring a set of product goals, outcomes and corresponding metrics to continually evaluate against and drive future activities and strategies.
• Evangelizing and communicating the product vision, strategy and goals internally and externally is a critical responsibility of this role.

They will take ownership of their own career and professional development by documenting and communicating career aspirations and any associated development needs to their manager.
Product Organization and Processes
A successful Product Manager will support an efficient cross-functional matrix structure to enable effective product development lifecycle management. They will execute a robust set of processes to power all parts of the product development lifecycle from research/discovery to release/launch management and product support.
• University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelor's degree) in Engineering
• Strong business acumen required
• 5+ years of technical or business experience in Renewable Energy: Solar or a related industry field.
• 5+ years of related discipline experience or demonstrated competency in Product Management.
• Working with remote teams is highly valued.
• Project management certification is a plus.
• Facilitation skills – ability to lead small to medium groups of internal and external stakeholders towards desired outcomes in order to meet business objectives.
• Interview skills – ability to conduct discovery sessions with clients, prospects and stakeholders in order to diagnose business opportunities, elicit requirements, and conduct other types of research and analysis.
• Strong communication and presentation (PowerPoint) skills.
• Product management tools – product/service design, analysis (Power BI), product/service development task management and project management, documentation and knowledge (SharePoint), collaboration (e.g. Microsoft Teams, Slack), roadmap and portfolio management (and related software tools).
• Formal training and/or certification in Product Management is a plus.
