Total Rewards Manager – APAC & China

 

The Total Reward Manager plays a critical role in providing expert guidance, coordination, and support for the effective implementation of total reward programs, policies, and practices across the APAC and China regions for all group companies in line with the Sonova Group Total Reward policies. The goal is to align these programs with Global Total Reward guidance and market best practices, thereby attracting, retaining, and motivating top talent. Additionally, the manager provides strategic counsel, training, and support to the APAC and China Human Resources teams as needed, all while supporting the company's overarching strategic objectives.

 

You will be based in Shanghai, reporting to the APAC Total Rewards Director.

In this role, you will lead the development and execution of compensation and benefits strategies across APAC and China, ensuring alignment with global frameworks and local market practices.

 

  • Compensation & Benefits StrategyLead the design and implementation of short-term and long-term incentive programs. Ensure competitiveness and internal equity through regular benchmarking and strategic adjustments.
  • Market Benchmarking & AnalyticsConduct regular market benchmarking using reliable survey data (e.g., Mercer, Aon, WTW). Analyze trends, identify gaps, and propose actionable recommendations. Leverage Excel, Power BI, or Python for data modeling and visualization.
  • Job Evaluation & ArchitecturePartner with HRBPs to conduct job evaluations and ensure accurate job leveling. Support the maintenance of consistent job architecture and grading structures across the region.
  • Annual Compensation ReviewLead the regional annual compensation review process in collaboration with HRBPs and Global Total Reward teams.
  • System & Process OptimizationSupport the implementation and optimization of reward-related systems (e.g., SuccessFactors). Develop and communicate reward policies, guidelines, and FAQs. Provide training and support to HR and business stakeholders.
  • Compliance & Vendor ManagementEnsure all reward programs comply with local labor laws and regulations. Manage relationships with benefits providers and brokers to optimize cost-effectiveness and service delivery.
  • Project ManagementSupport key reward projects (e.g., salary structure updates, incentive plan redesigns) with strong project management and cross-functional collaboration.

 

More about you:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in compensation & benefits, preferably in a global organization with exposure to the Asia region.
  • Experience from consulting firms (e.g., Mercer, Aon, WTW) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power BI, Python, SAP SuccessFactors, or ADP is a plus.
  • Fluent in English and Chinese. Additional APAC language is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build trust across all levels of the organization.
