PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead the timely execution of component development and cost-reduction initiatives, ensuring alignment with project schedules and budgets.
- Analyze component design requirements and propose optimal engineering solutions to meet performance, reliability, and cost objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing enhancements and cost-out opportunities in component design and performance.
- Develop comprehensive test plans with defined pass criteria and actively participate in laboratory testing and validation activities.
- Analyze and interpret test data to maximize components’ performance and contribute to overall product optimization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers and suppliers, to develop detailed drawings and component specifications.
- Operate independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating ownership and accountability for assigned components.
- Apply both standard and advanced engineering principles, mathematical models, and industry best practices to solve complex technical challenges.
- Exhibit strong mechanical design capabilities, with the ability to conceptualize and integrate innovative design solutions into products.
- Continuously expand knowledge of product design, construction, operation, and application to support engineering excellence.
- Acquire and apply relevant regulatory standards and certifications, including CTI, Eurovent, GB, UL, CE, and others as required.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within a global product development and manufacturing environment.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Travel periodically to BAC manufacturing facilities, suppliers, trade shows, up to 30% including internationally
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Required Knowledge/Skills:
- Effective communication, written and oral, with a globally diverse audience
- Ability to work independently and with others on design teams to understand and translate design and process engineering requirements into components, subsystems and products
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams to define project scope and develop implementation plans with timelines
- Ability to understand product/component function, reliability and quality requirements
- Collaborate with Quality/Reliability/Manufacturing/Sourcing to implement key metrics into the design of components/products and ensure all reliability goals are achieved
- Understanding of heating & cooling systems (including refrigeration psychrometric, air flow and liquid flow), and electrical components and systems operating principles
- Strong time management and project management skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering fields.
- Years of Experience: 5+ years of experience with BS Engineering or 2~3 years of experience with MS Engineering degree; 2+ years of product development experience preferred.
- Office Tools: Proficient Excel, Powerpoint, Word skills.
- Technical Expertise:
- Design of Experiments; experience w/ HALT (or equivalent) preferred
- Familiarity w/ engineering selections for components and equipment, such as fans, pumps, motor, piping, sealing parts, etc.
- Ability to quickly research and find technical information from open sources
- Sound and/or Vibration measurement and analysis preferred
- Ability to interpret results of FEA/CFD
- Experience with Fluid Flow, Heat Transfer, Airflow
- Efficiently working on multiple technical projects simultaneously
- Ability to manage projects budget
