Key Accountabilities
• Strategic planning: Responsible for developing brand’s strategic plan that fits within the company strategic vision and the brand’s global ambition (Long term vision + mid-term/short term planning)
• P&L Responsibility: Defining and developing an effective and cohesive strategy for the business, putting in place the Channel strategy and planning, forecast/demand and annual budgets that will lead to their achievement.
• Branding/Marketing: Ensuring the highly effective marketing strategy of the brand in the long term in partnership with the Global Brand and Marketing team. Strong recommendation for future product strategy for China market, Excellent execution of communications, channel management and consumer proposition. Un-compromising attention to the execution of a consistent brand identity and amplifying it in all channels.
• Business management: Responsibility for the financial performance of the business; utilizing the available investment to achieve strong growth in sales and sustained profitability. Key focus areas include sales growth; gross margin; marketing investment and ROI, cash management and profitability.
• Collaboration for Result: Work with the broader Paula’s Choice Global Leadership Team, APAC leaders, and UPD cross function partners for operational efficiencies and excellence to further enable speed and agility in execution and to amplify creativity in the organization.
• Regulation: Ensures the business is prudently operated with regulation and reporting requirements and fit for purpose; always ensure that the company adheres to its legal requirements as far as corporate governance, health & safety and employee legislation is concerned.
• Organization and team development: Build an effective multi-cultural organizational structure, inclusive culture, and high achieving team. Identify the right way of working within UPD and with HQ with agility and efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications
Candidate Profile: Skills & Competencies
• The individual will be an experienced (10 years+) executive with evident commercial and strategic business acumen. Strong knowledge and a proven track record in building an international consumer brand in China.
• The candidate will have a track record of brand P&L management, an analytical mindset, financial acumen and a solid commercial grounding.
• The successful candidate is likely to have a strong marketing branding background, with savvy consumer understanding, working in global beauty companies and having a track record of working in a start-up or entrepreneurship environment is a plus.
• The individual needs to have a deep understanding of China E-commerce and digital landscape and experience of managing eCommerce (Douyin, Tmall, Red) is a must.
• The Brand Lead will be a high-calibre and impactful leader, with real vision and charisma with experience on managing multi-functional team.
• The individual will be able to drive the growth agenda by engaging with and inspiring the local team and working closely with cross functional team and its global brand team.
• The individual will have a current local network in China ensuring an up-to-date knowledge regarding industry connections, online trends, providers, distribution, retail partners, social commerce opportunities, digital marketing platforms, partnership opportunities, up and coming brands, etc. Experience with Premium Hair industry is a plus.
• The individual will have a track record of building brands in China through the means of disruptive go to market strategies and used to working in a cost-conscious environment.
• The candidate will have a demonstrable track record of successfully leading, transforming, and growing a significant omni-channel business in China. The candidate will demonstrate a core capability in building omni-channel revenues and will have strong relationships with local players, such as Alibaba and Tencent.
• Team building skills: this role is required to design organization structure with the business scale up and shows solid experience driving teams in an agile work environment.
