About the Role:
We seek a detail-oriented Data Director to lead the Data Team and partner with clients/internal teams to deliver high-quality data solutions. As Data Team leader, you’ll oversee daily operations, guide data professionals (analysts, scientists), align team strategy with business/client goals, and foster a results-driven culture. You’ll also develop platform-specific solutions (Douyin Yuntu, RED Lingxi, Alibaba) to drive audience strategy, data analysis/modeling, and campaign performance optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor and develop the Data Team (set goals, feedback, upskilling), allocate workload, resolve challenges, and prioritize data accuracy/innovation.
• Platform & Audience Strategy: Use tools like Douyin Yuntu/RED Lingxi to build data-driven client strategies; translate briefs into audience plans, and optimize performance in real time.
• Audience Strategy: Translate clients' campaign briefs into actionable audience strategies across platforms—including but not limited to social channels like Douyin and RED. Partner closely with the operations team to monitor audience performance in real time, iterate on optimizations, and drive measurable lifts in campaign outcomes.
• Data Analysis and Modelling: Analyze media data, develop statistical/ML models to forecast investment, optimize budgets, and improve campaign efficiency.
• Client & Cross-Team Collaboration: Act as data expert for key clients (present insights, address queries); partner with media planning/client services to meet data needs.
• Tool Development: Collaborate with research/tech teams to support new planning/data products/frameworks.
Measures of Success:
Within 6 Months:
• Master key platforms to deliver aligned client strategies; deploy a budget-allocation model.
• Develop effective audience strategies with targeting improvements.
Within 12 Months:
• Drive platform best practices for efficiency; deliver impactful visualizations to aid decision-making.
• Establish yourself as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert. Proactively guide stakeholders on data-driven strategies and best practices.
What You'll Need:
• Bachelor’s in quantitative fields (Marketing, Statistics, Data Science, etc.).
• Strong communication skills; ability to lead cross-functional data teams.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in data management/analysis (preferably marketing/media/advertising).
• Hands-on experience in platform-specific audience analysis (Douyin, RED, Alibaba) to optimize targeting.
• Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
Preferred Skills:
• Ocean Engine Digital Marketing Senior Certification.
• BAT experience or knowledge of Ali Strategy Center, JD Jiushu/Shufang.
• Familiarity with marketing campaign metrics/digital platforms.
• Proficiency in Python/R for data processing.
• Understanding of stats and data modeling/ML.
