About the role:
General
· To be proficient and hands on with all chemical analysis and as required microbiological analysis
· Perform sample collection for analyses
· Perform daily routine analyses as required as per rostered shift
· Maintain accurate and consistent laboratory calibration and results records
· Maintain laboratory trial, equipment and calibration records
· Maintain calibration register, ensuring all equipment is within date
· Monitor equipment performance and consumable levels to ensure tests are delivered within budget
· Development of SOP’s and training programs as required
· Training of laboratory personnel as required
· Develop and enhance work practices to maximise equipment effectiveness and efficiency
· Perform other lab duties as required
· Use of wine management software to extract tank and analytical information and for results entry
· Support implementation of new equipment as required
· Report corrective and prevenative actions using the MyQI system
Compliance and quality
· Ensure all laboratory tasks are carried out in accordance with TWE Wine Estates (S&M Winery) Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
· Perform maintenance on laboratory equipment in accordance with SOP’s and training
· Implement and maintain compliance with the food safety and quality management system by reporting food safety hazards and quality problems as they arise
· Participate and adhere to laboratory QA systems
· Support audit processes within the S&M Winery Laboratory and TWE Technical Group (including NATA Audits, TWE HSE Audits, Technical Audits, Organic Audits, Customer Audits, HACCP Audits, Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) Audits)
Health and safety
· Comply with all company policies, procedures and practices relating to Occupational Health, Safety, Welfare and the Environment
· Support and maintain compliance with the TWE HSE Policy and take responsibility for solving and/or reporting workplace hazards
· Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in work area
Report fit for work
About you:
· Bachelor degree on chemical/food processing/science/biology related majors
· Relevant laboratory testing experience in wine industry
· Knowledge of winemaking process
· Competence with computer packages including MS Office suite
· Excellent problem solving, analytical and verbal and written communication skills
· English is a must
