Dow Consumer Solutions is looking for an Associate Technical Service & Development (TS&D) Scientist with strong application knowledge, business acumen, strategic thinking, communication skills, passion and aspirations for Industrial & Chemical Processing (I&CP) to be based in Shanghai.
I&CP has key growth market including composite, PFAS replacement, and Durable Water Repellent. The position has the responsibility to support the growth of the Consumer Solutions I&CP business in China by delivering technical solutions to customers and markets through the customer communication and internal activity.
You will work with closely all functions, including Sales, Marketing, TS&D, R&D, Product Management as well as with peers, key customers, distributors, and relevant teams in the other regions.
Responsibilities
•Use broad market, customer and application knowledge and understanding of the competitive technologies to solve complex technical issues.
•Understand the customer/market needs and regulation, and offer the solutions to the customers to gain market share.
•Promote existing products and new products including developed in other regions and other applications. The activity contains Search and Reapply (S&R). When additional evaluation data is needed for the promotion, have responsibility to gather the data.
•Work closely with TS&D/R&D peers including other region’s peers to understand DOW global technologies and develop new solutions.
•Seek new Opportunities at new applications and customers working with sales and marketer.
•Understand the characteristics of DOW’s products and competitive products including performance and structure/formulation to differentiate Dow’s products.
•Search new product development opportunities within the market through the market analysis and collaborate with R&D and TS&D for technical proposals.
•Maintain and strengthen customer relationships through technical service and support.
•Understand and utilize the process and tool for commercialization in DOW.
•Responsible for leading the resolution of quality problems of commercialized products at customers, including grasp the situation and immediate troubleshooting, and coordinating with sales, customer service, supply chain, R&D, analytical science and manufacturing as needed to resolve the issue.
•Accountable for submitting call reports, reporting technical finding, and filing appropriate patent disclosures to protect innovation.
Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Engineering, or science related field required.
•Master's degree or PhD is preferred.
•>10 years of Experience in TS&D/R&D.
•Knowledge and experience for relevant industry are preferred.
•Knowledge and experience in Industry related Plastics, Composites and Textile are more preferable.
