As a member of CDU CN Team, the senior automation engineer is responsible for the technical availability and optimization of the automation module and infrastructure design to fulfill internal automation facility requirements and bear operational guidelines and goals in mind.

Major Accountabilities

1. Serves as a technical partner for the Head CDU CN

2. Ensures the technical availability of the automation facility design in CDU CN1 and lead internal trouble shooting.

3. Represents the CDU CN concerning technical matters when investments arise

this includes drawing up URS, transferring procedural know-how, knowledge of the electric and mechanic engineering, and approvals for transfers, incl. documentation.

4. Serves as project manager regarding the planning and completion of internal projects.

5. Serves as technical representative in managing external partners and FTEs for collaborative development of automation facility

6. Optimizes and supports the CDU CN in optimizing the related procedures.

7. Ensures the safety by design concept is conducted in automation facility

8. Prepares or supports the preparation of the budget and ensures cost control of automation facility design and utilization.

9. Upon appointment as a contact person for automation engineering, she/he will coordinate the related activities, decide on factual and technical issues, coach the engineering staff members.

10. Her/his experience will allow her/him to carry out these tasks independently.

Requirements:

1. >3 years of practical experience in chemical / pharmaceutical industry or > 3 years of experience in field of expertise.

2. Good expertise in related field. Good (IT) application know how.

3. Good knowledge about the Drug Development process.

4. Basic project management, good organization and planning skills.

5. Knowledge of relevant regulations (e.g. GMP, HSE etc.) and Novartis specific standards.

6. Demonstrates problem-solving and idea generation skills.

7. Good presentation skills.

8. Fundamental Leadership skills.

9. Good communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
