Summary:

Manage the Finish performance testing lab and Color and Cosmetic team to meet the quality deliverables for the development of new finishes, support of existing finishes and manage finishing team documentations. Will also manage color and cosmetic standards and finish performance testing for multiple FBIN business units. This includes managing a team of finish technicians to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot test equipment, while documenting all testing results into standard test reports.

Finish Quality Systems

-Manage, perform and assist with timely and effective feedback communication of appearance evaluations in support of finish development and project team requirements.

-Manage the documentation of Finish Development Process and Work Instructions, including providing input to finish guidelines and best practices for finish development, based on process learnings and specific appearance-related items.

-Manage and assist with the establishment of standards for new finishes, including all related documentation, as well as the training necessary for rollout and correct usage of the standards.

-Administrate and facilitate the production, storage, distribution and routine verification of all pertinent appearance standards across all segments of the GPG supply chain.

-Review, and update or archive, appearance standards and process documentation, on regular cadence to maintain an up-to-date system for use by GPG and its suppliers.

-Manage all GPG Finish Definition teams and facilitate review meetings with the Finish Definition Teams as needed by business units and project teams.

-Direct and assist in problem solving and corrective action execution for supplier appearance issues, both directly with suppliers, and through interactions with other GPG Quality groups.

-Manage appearance requirement training for suppliers, in a regular cadence for effective support GPG business needs.

-Responsible for facilitating and arbitrating all appearance issues within GPG and the related supply chains.

-Coordinate and perform finish standard system audits at GPG plants and suppliers.

-Responsible for having an expert knowledge of GPG’s appearance standards and their application and the ability to articulate this to others in the organization and supply base.

-Responsible for Test Lab team’s performance management, associate development, maintaining exceptional customer service and safety, all work processes and outputs, budgets, external service relationships, and long-term planning.

-Works with engineers to analyze and interpret data

-Coordinates workflow across the Test Lab team, communicating priorities, quickly resolving issues, and maintaining high productivity.

-Develops and implements training plans for Lab Technicians to assure internal competencies are aligned with latest techniques or advancements in testing technologies.

-Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots test equipment. Monitors equipment, collects data, and ensures test specimen is operating within the defined specifications.

-Maintains a working knowledge of the certification and real-world test requirements for plumbing related products.

-Drive internal and external audits to ISO17025 and report findings, as well as corrective actions executions. And Vendor’s lab audit and certification

-Drive personal growth of team members through frequent 1:1’s, coaching, etc.

-Create and execute robust individual development plans for all Associates

-Collaborate with leaders at the manufacturing plants and Global Product Development (GPD

QUALIFICATIONS:

-Minimum of 4-year degree (BS) in Quality / Material Science / Engineering or Chemistry. 

-Minimum of 5 years experience in Quality or Product Development functions related to product/finish development and manufacturing, with aptitude for quality/business systems administration and improvement.

-Proven ability to manage people in a cross-functional team environment and drive product through the development process.

-Excellent communication skills (verbal, written & presentations).

-Must be process-oriented, detail-oriented.

-A strong passion and vision for Quality and continuous improvement.

-Ability to effectively manage change, navigate and influence others in a matrixed environment (management experience preferred), deliver tough messages and resolve conflict.

-Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders across multiple geographic locations.

-Excellent written and oral communications skills, technical writing experience, and procedure / instruction writing experience.

-Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a demonstrated passion for learning, adoption of new technology, and independent decision-making

-Fluent with standard PC tools and Microsoft software (i.e. word processor, spreadsheets, database, etc.).

-Superior color vision when tested per Farnsworth-Munsell Hue test.

-Must be willing to travel up to 30% domestically or internationally.
